Knowing how to make art is one thing; knowing how to teach it is another thing entirely. Being passionate about working with children, and an artist by nature, I seamlessly integrate these two professions and have the best job in the entire world!
With a cheerful and relaxed demeanor, I strive to reach students wherever they are, however they learn best, and empower them to connect deeply to each project. I teach with a student-driven mindset, and seek to empower students' self-confidence and independence. With experience in classroom management, curriculum development and implementation, instruction of engaging curriculum, flexibility and patience - I enjoy allowing student interests and passions to direct the flow in my art studio/classroom.
I first became inspired to teach visual arts to youngsters when I first taught after-school art lessons at Frog Hollow (Vermont State Craft Center) in 2007. This was such a deeply meaningful experience that it prompted my return to college, where I began work towards becoming a licensed Art Educator. I am now a licensed art educator (PreK-12). After a full career of making art professionally and fundraising for the arts through grant writing and nonprofit philanthropic support, over the past decade, I have also established several small successful businesses in the studio arts, healing arts and temporary body art.
